Message My problem was a bad MAF. To get to that part, I checked items 1 thru 8 below (not in that order) and came to the conclusion and with help from memebers here. I used my Datascan from BlaZt and the MAF readings were GOOD that are listed in the FSM specifications so it confused me. I used a multimeter and checked the voltages as per the FSM (at the MAF connector) and the voltages were BAD (.3V - Pin B to ground. for some reason engine or chassis ground would not work, I used the radiator as ground and it worked. Don't ask me why).

I used the Datascan for 2 major problems I had and it is at 50% effectiveness rate. It is good for checking fault codes, active tests and a few other things though. But now I will not put much faith in many of the Datascan readings i get, I will double check in a second form to be sure. Yes it may take longer, but it will make me feel more comfortable with my troulble shooting.

My MAF was the culprit (see item 6). For those having stalling/idle problems check the following items:

1. Battery voltage (charging -car running and static - car off)
2. Connectors: TPS, MAF, coolant, knock sensor, IACV/AAC, injectors...pretty much all of the ones you can get to)
3. Vacuum leaks
4. Clean Air Filter
5. IACV/AAC (remove and clean them & adjust idle with idle screw)
6. MAF (1. start car with connector removed, if you can start it. the car should idle bad (hunting). 2. replace connector if car can idle and not stall, if the car stalls wehn you connect it, BAD MAF SENSOR). You can try CRC MAF cleaner or better buy new or GOOD used one (I bought a good used one. price ranges for used: $90-$150, depends from whom you buy it. the lower price range is from individual people, middle to upper ranges vendors). Better than $500 for brand new. If used, make sure is has N6 printed on it!!!!!!
7. Spark plugs (fouling)
8. Injectors resistance
9. Fuel pressure/Fuel filter (if its old or you have been using cheap gas)
10. Timing (many people recommend it. I used the Datascan...much easier)

Just want to do my part for the site and I hope this helps others!

Mike
